Rowing Notes.

GISBORNE ROWING CLUB. A special meeting of the members of the Gisborne Rowing Club was held last night, at the Misonic Hotel, there being about 25 present. Mr Miller occupied tbe chair. Messrs G. Richardson and W. Marshall were elec ed members of tbe Club. Ths e'eotion by the Committee of Messrs L. Rees, Bingham, and E. Matthews was confirmed. It was decided that none but members of the Club should be eligible to hold office on the Selection Committee, the Committee to to consist of three. Messrs Miller, Lunn, and Ratcliffe wars elected as a Selection Committee, to hold office and have control of the representative crew until after the races, with full power to make alterations. A letter was received from the Poverty Bay Olub. euggeeiing that a friendly match be arranged between the winning crews in ths trial fours recently rowed by members of ths respective Olubs. Some ot those present expressed their approval of such a contest being held, but onnaidered that the matter should be decided by the winning crew and the Committee. Tbe Chairman informed the meeting that racee had been arranged with Napier eenior fours, aleo under lOtt, and single-sculls, a- d with Auckland eenior and under lOst fours.

i A meeting] of th« Committee of the Gisborne Junior Rowing Club was held last evening. It was decided to bold the trial fours competition this evening, starting about six. The first heat will be between— P ttoid (stn ke), Brosnahan, C. Adair, and O. Piesse; Henderson (stroke), Wilkinson, J. B -id, and W. Morell. Tbe bye will be rowed to-morrow evening, the crew that meet the winners being—J Morrell (stroke) Watt, H Johnston, and Poole. Tbe final heat of the Poverty Biy Rowing Club’s trial fours was contested on Saturday evening. The crews were—Walters (stroke). Burton, Gundy, and Dette ; B>wysr (stroke), Sweet, F. Hepburn, aud Smith. There was a good race. Sawyer led for about quarter of a mile, when Walters challenged him and won omfortably by several lengths.
