H.B. POWER BOARD
WORK FOR THE MONTH ENGINEER’S REPORT The engineer to the Hawke’s Bay Power Board (Mr. H. Benjamin) reported at to-uay’s meeting of the Board as follows:— “During the month several short extensions have been completed and livened up together with 50 service dues. A joint pole line has been erected along Williams street, Hastings, so that power can be given Horn either the Board’s or Boiough supply. The earth testing of all the sub-stations has been completed and the results forwarded to the Public Works Department. The complete order for cross-arm timber and partorder for poles have been delivered. When this order has been completed, there will be sufficient poles for approximately seven miles of main line extension, but not sufficient copper wire, transformers and other material for this amount of tion.
“It is difficult at this stage to estimate the quantity of material required tor future extensions, but 1 would recommend calling for prices for sufficient main material tor u twelve month's programme on the following basis: 15 miles extensions, 400 services. The approximate cost of the extra material required would be £4,000.
