MURRAY CREEK.
GOLDEN FLEECE EXTENDED. The work in the mine has, on the whole, progressed satisfactorily during tbe week, although a temporary break in the stopes has made it difficult to separate the quartz from the rubble, and consequently inferior stono and a loss quan« tity, has had to be passed through the mill ; but as a change for the better is now apparent, better returns will probably be reported next week. The low level is being steadily advanced towards the Fleece winze, in which direction it is being driven, and has now reached a point only 60ft distant from tho immedi« ate terminus. The winze for connecting ihe intermediate No. 1 with the bottom
level is now down 52-V"t. The reef which is being followed here maintains the same character as to size, quality, aud under* lie as reported last week, anJ looks pcrnunent and regular. Tbe further extension of the No. 4 level has been decided upon, and will be taken in hand ou Mon* day. The usual weekly scraping of the top plates yielded 13Sjz amalgam from 136 tons stone.
