GOLDEN FLEECE EXPENDED.
During the stoppage of tbe mill, the engine, machinery, and other appliances, have received a thorough overhaul. This was particularly Deeded abont the ! pump, and tbe pear thereto belonging, which during periods of rapid crushing is subject to a great strain. This has now been placed in first-class order, and an improvement is made in the mine itself by replacing the old working bar« rel, by an entirely new one from tbe foundry. An innovation is also made on the old plan by placing this barrel in the middle of tbe pump instead of at tbe top as before. By this improvement the weight of the column of water will be somewhat lessened, and consequently will stand longer wear: Daring tbe latter part of the week preparations have been completed for crushing, which will commence at twelve o'clock to«morrow night; The paddock is full of quarts, and a stock of coal has been brought to the site, where it will be required. The work in the mine has been carried out lately with an object to haye tbe levels advanced beyond the stopes to secure greater dispatch in getting out stone.
