NIL DESPERANDUM.
Tbe months' crushing was cleaned up yesterday, aud resulted in 71 ounces. This amount is within a fraction of the last average, which has been pretty regular for a considerable time. The stone is plentiful and of good dimensions in the lower block, to which operations have been confined since the tribulers bave
bad tbe mine, but as the raising and haulage from the low level has always been associated with a great amount of labor, owing to the intricate access to that part of tbe mine, it is now intended to open out on a block of stone in an upper level, where a large quantity exists within easy access. The stone here is oertainly somewhat poorer, but a trial will nevertheless be made during next month, when it will be ascertained whether the poorer stone, situate as it is might not be profitably worked.
