LYELL MEETING.
« (From tbeLyell Time* ) Thursday, October 27. CECESUS. There has been h slight pinch in the reef during 'he past week, but it is novr making again in the bottom. The lode maintains an even course, and will there is not the slightest doubt be traced the entire length of the lease. The directors on Saturday accepted the tender of A. Sangster for constructing shoot 400 feet in length, as also for the supply of sawn timber for new paddock. UNITED ALPINE. Ihe reef in the intermediate level north continues to improve and shows good gold. A marked increase in the weekly return from the battery may now be looked for. MARUIA. I was slightly in error last week as to tbe number of crushings taken out and yield of gold obtained by the present holders of this property. I stated that during the past 12 months, for three crashings, 750 oz3, of gold bad been obtained from 180 tons of stone whereas it should be 110 tons stone crushed for a return of 674 ozs. melted gold. The third crushing of about 70 tons is now proceeding, and a general cleaning up will take place on Saturday. The proposal to register this property under the Mining Companies Act is being received with much favour, and as soon a very large number of applications for shares. It will be offered to the public in a few days. UNITED VICTORY (New Creek). On Saturday last a good slate country came in, in the face, and there has consequently been' a great improvement in tbe nature of tbe driving. The distance to be drjven to bring the tunnel underneath tbe winze is now only some few feet, and next week will I think see it completed. Tbe striking of the reef will now be anxiously looked for.
