Sinking winze from the bottom leve' has been commenced during tbe week, and although no great progress has been vet made owins to necessary prepara tions having taken up some time, but n good start has been made, and the sinking will be continued for 80ft or 100't. A good body of stone is underfoot, carrying a fair percentage of gold. The crushing which was commenced about ten days ago, will be continued until about 300 tons are milled, 200 tons of which , will be through by this evening, and the balance will probably, occupy the mill until Friday, after which a cleaning up will take place. The plates promise a fair average return. The winding gear is working well. The new steel rope is a splendid piece of workmanship and Mr Watson statos that it will work admis rably as soon as it is thoroughly stretched.
