IMPERIAL.

Owing to the small progress made by the contractors for sinking the winze the directors found it advisable during the week to cancel the contract, which had been entered into for 100 feet. At the time 47 feet had been sunk, and as the company are willing to pay in full for work performed, amicable settlement will probably be arrived at. Wages hands have been put on, and work will be pushed on with all possible vigour. The stone, which is of very good quality, is now found to extend all over the bottom of the winze, and the scare which was created last week is now subsiding, and the stock is becoming firmer.
