PACTOLUS.
After a long spell of inactivity this company have again resumed operations, and have sent out four men under the management of Mr Searight, who seems confident of picking up the rich vein worked some years ago, and which although small in size gave at one time an average return of Bozs. or 9ozs. to the ton. The yield afterwards fell off to about 4ozs. per ton, after which the mine was let on tribute. This, however, did not pay at the time, and the mine has since then been idle. The position and antecedents of the mine demand a good and thorough trial of the ground, and the best results are confidently anticipated.
