MEETING OF THE COUNTY COUNCIL.
**> An ordinary meeting of the County Council was held on Wednesday evening, when there were present Messrs Brennan, (Chairman), Williams, Irving, Feehan, Patterson, and Craig. _ The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Co*BJß*KSF(nn>nrcß. An application from Mrs Green for charitable add. was refused, and an amendment that a committee be appointed to enquire into the circumstances was negatived. James Connolly applied for £20, for keeping the Energetic tramway open for traffic. On the motion of Mr Williams it was resolved that the sum of £10 should be paid in full satisfaction of his claim. A letter was received from the school committee at Capleston, asking the Council to make a track to the state school there. The request was complied with and the Engineer directed to make a foottrack accordingly. An application from A Main to subsidise the making of a track to the sawmill was refused. Another from J. F. Johnston, asking for a road to his store, was also declined. Daniel Anderson and others applied for a road to be made, but this met with a similar fate. John Dixon and others applied for a branch pack-track from Cariboo to the Blackwater Creek. On the motion of Mr Williams, seconded by Mr Irving, the Engineer was directed to lay off a packtrack four feet wide, tenders to be called for the work and sent in at the next meet ing of the Council. A petition from William Collings and others asking the Council to provide water supply for the town of Reefton, was received. A resolution that the petition be deferred till the Engineer lay his report re water-supply on the table, was carried An application from Angelo Cereseto and others, that the Council make a portion of Kelly-street was agreed to, tenders for the work to be received at the next Council meeting. A request from J. G. Heslop that the Council would make some repairs to the right-of-way at the rear of the policestation, was referred to the Engineer. Engineer's Report. This merely referred to the widening of the Black's Point road and the short track to Boatman's, giving an estimate of each work. The report was received. Mr Craig proposed and Mr Williams seconded a resolution that these works should be proceeded with, which was carried, a special meeting of the Council to be held on the 30th instant, at 8 o'clock, to consider the plans and specifications, and tenders to close on the Bth April, at noon. On the motion of Mr Feehan, seconded by Mr Patterson, the Engineer was instructed to call for tenders for the bridletrack from the township of Capleston to the Left-hand branch, tenders to close on the Ist April, at noon. The offer of J. G. Heslop to collect miners' rights throughout the County at 12£ per cent, on all money collected, was accepted. Accounts to the amount of £214 3s. lid were passed for payment. The Council then adjourned.
