MURRAY CREEK.
INANGAHUA LOW LEVEL TUNNEL. Since tho Ist March last the main tunnel has been extended 62ft., the make of the ground — slate, with thin bars of sandstone, having been favorable for fast work. Two leaders of quartz, from two to four inches thick, were crossed during the month, but did not show gold. The lateral prospecting drive has been extended 61ft. during the month, making the total length of this drive 75ft. In this distance about 40ft. of stone was passed through, which would average about 3ft. thick. It proved, however, to be of rather poor quality. In the face of the drive there is at the present time a large track intermixed with quartz. The character of the country in the face of the main tunnel is very favorable. KEEP-IT-DARK. The returns of this company for the week ending Saturday last, the Bth instant, show 4240z. lldwt. of amalgam from 209 tons of stone crushed, a yield that must be most satisfactory* to shareholders. The crushing was only the average stone of the mine, w__ich was never so freely opened up as at the present time. The whole of the stone on this level will maintain its present yield, and bids fair to well sustain the reputation of the district. We hear that it is the intention of the directors to open up a lower level while stone is being taken from the present one, so that tho battery will be kept employed without ces--sation. GOLDEN TREASURE. Good stone is still being broken down, and crushing is proceeding. Up to the present time there has been only a partial cleaning up, which has been very satisfactory, and a thorough cleaning up will not take place, we are told, till the end of the present month. Judging from present indications this should prove most satisfactory and it is most probable that a dividend will be declared on it. The winze is down 30 feet at the southern end of the lease carrying payablo stone, and the prospects of the property are generally good. GOLDEN FLEECE EXTENDED. The Company is still driving. The country has been excessively hard, but i 3 softening with such indications as to lead to the supposition that a wide reef may come in at any time. The compressor and boiler of the diamond drill have arrived and the other portions of the machinery are daily expected. Mr Trennery, tho manager, will arrive this week, when the erection of the drill will be at onco com- [ meneed.
