HEATED DEBATE.
STUDENTS ON MODERN WOMEN. LONDON, Dec. 1. “Woman” was the subject of a heated debate at the Cambridge University Union. The president, Mr M. Hammond, complained that the modern woman was as double-faced as her ancestors. “Rather than grow old,” he said, “she would dye young, bangle her arms, bingle her hair, and bungle her face.” Regarding skirts, lie said it would be unwise to talk about nothing I Mr R. Stephenson, in defending women, urged them to trust in God and keep their powder dry!
