SUGGESTED REMIT.

' COMPULSORY MEDICAL INSPECTION. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 7. A strong plea on behalf 'of a suggested remit to the Municipal Conlerence, proposing that there should be a compulsory annual inspection of persons over 40 years of age, was made by Councillor Carr at last night s meeting of the City Council. The remit had been considered by the bylaws committee, which did not recommend that it be sent to the conference. Councillor Carr, in reply, said that the proposal was only a beginning, and lie believed that if it were adopted it would be a means of nipping in the bud a good deal of disease. The remit was adopted by nine votes to seven, in the following form: “That, in the interests of public health, legislation be sought providing for a medical inspection annually of every person in the Dominion of over 40 years of age ” \
