CRICKETERS’ CLOTHES.
STRANGELY-GARBED PLAYERS.
PROPER DRESS INSISTED UPON. AUCKLAND Dec. 9. Some strangely-apparelled cricketers take the field in Auckland on Saturday afternoons, if all that was said at a meeting of tho management committee of tho Auckland Cricket Association is true.
Regret that some of the players, even in the higher grades, did not appear in correct attire was expressed by several members. The case of a second-grade player who bowled in black trousers was cited. This, it was contended, was unfair to the batsman as it affected his vision. The practice of some players in wearing ordinary dark caps was also condemned.
“I saw a player on the field in a black waistcoat the other day,” geid Mr E. C. Beale. “I suggested to one of his mates that it might be better if bis friend took it off, and he did not appear in it on the following Saturday.”
“I saw another player in one of those pull-overs on Saturday,” said Mr Carlton Hay. “It had all the colours of the rainbow. I am sure no club ever had all the colours that were on it.”
It was pointed out that it was contrary to the rules for players to appear in other than the correct ail ire and it was decided to ta.'re action to see that players are in future properly dressed.
