BULLS.
TOWN BOARD AIEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Sept. 14. Tho Bulls Town Board met on Thursday evening. Present: Alessrs J. E. Walker (chairman), C. AI. Bnoughton, H. Stevens, J. B. Robins and F. A. Holland. Leave of absence was granted to Alessrs J. F. Flynn and E. Edhouse. Foreman S. Howard reported on work done for tho month ending September 12, detailing grading of roads, putting in culverts, and attending to path on Recreation Hill, Ho reported that a bucket was missing after tho recent fire, and no traco could be found of it. Tho health inspector, Air J. W. Huggins, reported: “It is pleasing to note that there has been an absence of notifiable infectious diseases in Bulls during the worst month of the winter. Routine, matters have been attended to, and no difficulties encountered which need special mention.” Sanitary inspections made were: Habitations, 11; requisitions served, 1; food-sellers’ premises, 4 and 1; plumbing and drainage, 5 and 1; boarding- house, 1 and 1; new buildings, 3. The Alain Highways Board forwarded estimates of amounts due to the Town Board for road maintenance. The Commissioner of Transport wrote regarding traffic signs. Credit balances were shown in the following accounts: —District fund, £376 7s sd; cemetery, £23 18s lid; library, £l6 15s; and Domain, £lO 11s 7d. Accounts wore passed for payment as follow:—District fund, £65 4s; library, £3 8s; Domain, 6s. Collections for tho month were: Town Hall rents, £37; rates, £6 6s 2d; heavy traffic licenses, £ll7 3s Id; dog tax, ss; hire of grader, ss; library, £5 11s; Domain, £3 18s 6d. Objection was taken to the action of unqualified persons in interfering with , the lighting arrangements at recent balls held in the Town Hall, and it was resolved to fall in with the suggestions of the Power Board, and issuo.a warning that no alterations are to be mado unless tho supervision of a qualified electrician, and the clerk and hall custodian were instructed to notify users to this effect. The Domain Board acceded to the request of the Manawatu Alotor Club for the use of tho sportsground for tho purposes of holding a picnic on September 22, provided that motor racing is not conducted on the track. The farm committee reported that tho sheep were doing well on the Recreation Ground. Tho percentage of lambs is over 100.
