QUEEN CARNIVAL.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) WOODYILLE, Sept. 16. As a finale to the Queen Carnival held recently in aid of the Boys’ Band, a danco was held in tho Drill Half Tho carnival committee had the hall nicely decorated with streamers representing the queen candidates’ different colours. The floor was in excellent order and splendid music was supplied by tho orchestra. Between 300 and 400 people woro present, including many visitors from Pahiatua and Dannevirke. During tho evening tho Mayor (Mr H. P. Homo) took tho opportunity of thanking tho four candidates and tneir respective committees for coming forward and making the carnival so successful, the not proceeds being just over £4OO. He asked each candidate 'to accept on behalf of the Carnival Committee a small present as a mark of appreciation of their efforts. Tho Mayoress (Mrs Horne) then made the presentations which were in tho form of leather dressing cases. Dancing was then continued and kept up until the early hours of tho morning. GUN CLUB. A team from tho Woodvillo Gun Club met a team from the Dannevirke Gun Club on tho latter’s ground on Saturday afternoon, tho match resulting in a win for the Danncvirko Club by 98 points to 82. The conditions were eight men aside and fifteen birds off tho 14 yards mark. The scores were as follow: Dannevirke. —R. Chisholm 11, R. Sergeant 13, R. Knight 11, E. Hooper Smith 11, W. Nohoss 15, C. Wiffen 15, J. W. Sergeant 13, and R. Widen 9; total, 98. Woodvillo. —T. Kcarins 11, R. G. Smith 13, C. Mackio 10, F. Mackic 10, J. Horne 9, G. Hartridgc ~9, R. Johnston 11 and J. Littlo 9; total 82.
