(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) - Received January 27 , 9.25 a.m. LONDON, Jan." 26., I An explosion occurred at the Llwynypia colliery, in the Rhondda Valley, the great centre of coal mining. Rescue parties worked valiantly and recovered ten bodies. Fourteen were rescued, but they are suffering from the effects of gas. Two of those who were, rescued died. One was Mr John Evans,’ the well-known tenor singer. A doctor who was administering artificial respiration collapsed and had to be carried to the surface, where he recovered.
