(Fnim Our Own Correspondent.) i : RONGOTEA, Jan. 26. '' .The Town Board met last night when there were present Messrs L. H. Yarrall (chairman), E. J. Arnott, W. Amey, S. J. Teaz, T.- Fraser and C. P. Wood (clerk). •It was decided that the weekly holt-holiday for. shop* is to remain as at present, on Thursday. The loose surface of the highway through Rongotea, and the swiftly moving traffio have created a duet nuisance that is a matter of serious concern to storekeepers and residents and as a result Mr C. Ciochetto waited on the board on behalf of the business people to ask that steps be taken to minimise the - loss and annoyance caused by the clouds of dust. As a result of the discussion that took place it was decided that the chairman and Mr Arnott be appointed delegatee to the next meeting of the Manawatu County. Council, when a request will be made that the road be tarsealed and the speed of through traffic regulated. It was also decided toiask business men who are interested to co-operate with the board in making representations to the council. The roadman reported having completed a section of concrete, footpath, and attended, to. various drains. It was decided that the proposal to concrete the path opposite the Memorial Square be held over till the meeting in April. Accounts totalling £33 ’were passed for payment. The following ladder tennis matches were K during the week: R. L. ' Ingham i R. Gloyn, 4—9; A. Arnott beat V. Tunnioliffo, 9 —3; G. Eades beat P. Freokn" ton, 7—5; A. Arnott lost.to H. Walker, . All members who intend to participate in the Ladies’ Rose Bowl contest and th 3 Morcom Cup for men, have been reminded that nominations close on February 6. Next Saturday the local team will travel to. the Manawatu, Club’s courts to play the Manawatu team in the fourth series of the competition.
