WOODVILLE, Jan. 27,
Mr B. L. Barley, of Remuera, Auckland, was a visitor to Woodvillo yesterday. Mr E. J. Single of the railway staff, commenced his annual leave to-day, Mrs Swede, Miss R. Swede and Mr G. Doggott, have returned from a visit to Waltomo. Miss Eileen Sullivan has been appointed to suocood Miss Alexander as assistant teacher at the Woodvillo 1 Bistrict High School. An increase of £IOO-over the corresponding period last year is shown in tho outward returns for Woodvillo railway station far the week ending January 23rd. The following croquet matches have been played for the ‘‘Goldfinch Button”: Mesdames Norman and Nicholas beat Mesdames Whitelaw and Hendorson 26—7; Mesdamea McGregor and Curry beat Metdames Murphy and Helpin' 26—16; Mesdames McCarthy and Henderson beat Mesdames McGregor and Curry 26—24;, Mesdames Kenyon and Murphy beat Mesdames Norman and Nicholas 26—18; Mesdames McCarthy and Henderson beat Mesdames McGregor and Nicholas 26—11; Mesdames Curry and Kenyon beat Mesdames Norman and Goldfinch 26—22. A very enjoyable day was spent on the lawns on Thursday of last week whori" the members eritcrtaiood eight members from the, Rangitira Croquet Club. Two hour games were played and the visitors wore delighted with the day's outing. Luncheon, morning and afternoon tea was provided. The.-follow-ing is the score for the day’s play:— Bannovirke 128 points, Woodvillo 95 points.
