MOTOR BOAT SPEED.
GAR WOOD’S FEAT. Received January 29, 12.35 p.m. DETROIT, Jan. 28. Mr •W. D. Edenburn, chairman of the racing committee of the Yachts-, men’s Association of America, made the announcement • relative -to the motor boat speed record, following the receipt of a cablegram from Mr M. Pauwaert, secretary of the International Motor Yachting Union, advising him that Mr Kaye Don’s record was 95.78 miles per hour. Mr Edenburn previously nad figured Mr Gar Wood’s speed at 96.20 nautjeal miles per hour. To obtain the world’s record, he said, the international rules required the old record to be exceeded by at least half a nautical mile per hour. He added that the national record would be certified for Mr Wood.
