SHOCKING TRAGEDY.
EIGHT OF FAMILY MURDERED
POLICE SEARCHING FOR HIRED MAN.' Received January 30. 9.55 a.m. WINNIPEG, Jan. 29. An' assassin crept into the home of Mr Martin Sitar at Eirna. - Manitoba, 50 miles south of here, early this morning and stabbed to death eight persons—Mr Sitar, 'his wife, and six children. Two other children of Mr and Mrs Sitar, who are in a critical conditions as a result of knife wounds, were rescued 1 from their beds by their uncle' Mr John Sitar, who lives nearby, when he rushed, to the house, which had been set oir fire by the killer. There is but little-hope for the recovery. of the children, who are both under the age of three. The dead children were aged from three to fifteen years. 1 Four other members of the family were not attacked. The police are searching for a hired man, aged about 45, who had been employed by Mr and Mrs Sitar for two months. He has been missing since this morning. Neighbours say that he is a European immigrant.
