Mr Graham was the son of mr George Graham, an officer of the Royal Engineers, who came to New. Zealand with. Governor Hobson in 1840 as one of His Excellency’s staff and who was present at the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. At the annual conference of the New Zealand Horticultural Society, Mr G. Green was reappointed secretary and organiser. Mr W. V. Kingsbeer, of Palmerston North, was appointed treasurer. Messrs T. Waugn (convener), H. Bennett, W. T. Benefield, junr., W. V. Kingsbeer, J. S. Dallenger,,. A. McMillan, G. Cooper, T. D. Lerinie, J. N. McLeod and H. J. Cutler were appointed an executive committee. The death occurred this morning of Mr George William Haslam, of Main Street. Born in the Wairarapa fiftyeight years ago, the late .Mr Haslam had been a resident of Palmerston North for many years. He had been in ill-health of late and was admitted to the Hospital a few days ago, but failed to improve and passed away this morning. He had been a member of ,the Druids’ Lodge for about 20 years. A widow and grown-up son are left to mourn his passing. Mr Edward Walter, formerly M.P. for Stratford, died during the .week-end at the age of 66. Ho was born in Corn-r wall and came to New Zealand in 1886. After a year in the Waikato and Hawke’s Bay .he took up land at Douglas, where he lived until his death. He rendered long service on local bodies, including the position of chairman of the Stratford County. He defeated Hop. R. Masters for the Stratford seat in 1925, but lost the subsequent election to Mr W. J. Poison. He had been ill for the last six months.
