LAST EVENING’S MEETING
' The Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club conducted another of its series of sports meeting at the Sportsground last evening, when there was a large number of the public in attendance. The weather was almost perfect, with only a slight breeze blowing, which did not hamper the riding in any way, and good times were registered throughout. The results were as follow : A grade, one lap.—N. Dixon (45yds) 1, E. Pillehger (60) 2, R. Lawrence (45) 3, E. Lawrence (scr.) 4; inches separated the winners; time, 43sec. There were 10 starters. B grade, half-mile. —R. Anthony (80) 1, H. Gardner (80) 2, E. Woollett (70) 3, C. Prouse (80) 4; one length, the third rider being one and a-half lengths away; time, 65 2-ssec. A grade, 3 miles. —E. Lawrence (scr.) 1, ML. Gardner (160) 2, R. Lawrence (245) 3, R. Hobbs (245) 4; won by half a length, third rider two lengths away; time, 7min. 35sec. B "rade, 2 miles. —H. Essex (100) 1, E. Woollett (210) 2 C. Prouse (240) 3, H. Gardner (180) 4; won easily, lengths separating the other placed riders; time, smin. 2sec. Bovs’ cycle race (2 laps).—Johnson (70) 1, De Ridder (50) 2, Goldfinch (110) 3, Wilkin (60) 4; twelve starters. Boys* 100 yards.—R. Murphy 1, P. Evans 2, W. Ward 3; sixteen starters. Girls’ 100 yards. —N. Strater 1, T. Christian 2, J. Christian 3; eight starters.
