MANAWATU ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE. The management committee of the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association mot last evening, Mr J. T. McDonald presiding. Also present Were Messrs C. C. Yates, S. A. Stannard, T. B. Worrall and H. H. Johnson. The chairman stated that there was little likelihood of the American tennis team visiting Palmerston North on its Dominion tour. The visitors had stated that they would play on onlytwo half-days in the Dominion, and it was probable that one appearance would be in the North Island and the other in the South. The suggestion was advanced by- the Bulls Club that, in regard to competition games, where a club had not more than two courts for match play, it be optional to shorten all sots to “best of 13 games (not advantage)” if there is any doubt about getting through in time.—On the motion of the chairman, it was decided that, where the circumstances are as set out above, the captains of the respective teams be empow-ered, prior to the games starting, to come to an agreement as to whether they should play 13 games straight or 7 advantage. Inter-club mntches, it was decided, would be resumed on January 28 and February 1. It was decided to hold the usual championship tournament on January;2l and 23 and to seek the use of the i Northern Club’s courts for the fixture. I The following programme was agreed to: Men’s and ladies’ championship singles, men’s and ladies’ handicap singles, men’s and ladies’ combined doubles.
