PAHIATUA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PAHIATUA, Deo. 12.
Tho death occurred in tho Publio Hospital this morning of Mr J. P. Boyle. The fate Mr Boylo, who was formerly a resident of Palmerston North, became suddenly ill on Saturday evening, and was removed to tho hospital on Sunday morning. Tho deceased gentleman, bosides being a member of tho Pahiutua Racing Club, was connected with all other branches of sport in tho district and his Hudden death will bo rogrotted by all with whom he came in contact.
Mrs E. Stevens, of Main Street, who has boon an inmate of the Public Hospital for some wooks, is now homo again and progressing favourably. A community sing in connection with Carnival Week was held this evening. Every available seat in tho theatre was occupied well ahead of the appointed time of commencement, and everybody was in a happy spirit, the sing being a very enjoyablo and successful one. Prior to the commencmeent of the sing an orchestra comprising Miss Burt, Messrs C. Burt, R. Davy, C. McCa'rdle, H. Burt and E. Burrell played several items. King of the Carnival (Mr W. R. Richardson) welcomed all present. Ho then led the sing, later being relieved by tho organiser, Mr F. •Mcrrie, and Mr 3 J. C. Boyons and Mr H. R. Ogg. Miss Paku and Miss Harrison sang solos which were well received. The Sunshine Revellers also rendered an item.
