(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANDON, Dec. 23. To provido a day’s outing during the holidays tho married employees of the Manawatu County Council have issued a challengo to the single men of the district. The gamo has been arranged for Thursday, 29th Inst. The ground at tho Sandon Park is not in a fit condition to play on and arrangements are being mado to havo the use of tho Bulls Domain. To team for tho married men will be selected from tho following :—Drew, Bond, Edwards, Anderson, Aiken,- McCabe, McCallum, Forbes, Sadler, Rcevo, Tattle, Davoy, Tostovin. The single men will be represented by: G. Drew, W. Drew, K. Lumsden, Rox Harris, L. Harris C. Oppatt, J. Davey, Andrew, Ncsbit, W. Sanson, M. Sanson, F. Murphy. Any others married or single, who would like a game will bo welcome and can leavo word with Mr A. IC. Drew. The comunmity sing and concert arranged in aid of tho piano fund for Makowhai Camp attracted only a modcrato attendance. Those who were present were treated to a programme well above tho average. Mr J. Currio was in control and carried the community sings along with a swing. Contributors to tho concert portion of tho programme were: Mr B. Henderson (vocal solo); Miss V. Wright (recitation) encored; Mr G. Nicol (humorous song and cornet solo) ; Mr T. Murphy (stop dance) encored and responded to by Mr Murphy. Mr J. Currie; Miss L. Thomas (vocal solo) encored; Miss R. Dwyer (tap dance); Miss R. Bull (vocal solo) encored; Messrs N and P. Fagan (guitar and ukulelo duet) encored; Mrs I. Edwards (recitation) encored; Mr J. • Currie (humorous song)’ and the Sandon Trio (Messrs A. K. Drew, J. Currio and F. W. Tostevin). The programme ended with the hymn, “Abide With Mo,” and the National Anthem. Tho accompaniments were played by Mrs E. N Butler, Miss N. Fagan and Mr G. Drew. Mr J. H. Porrett returned thanks to the performers some of whom had como from Palmerston North. He regretted the attendance was only moderate, but tho effort was a worthy one. Tho camp committee realised that the men must have some sort of entertainment and had purchased the piano.
