DIVING ACCIDENT.

GIRL'STRIKES LEDGE OF ROCK. STRATFORD, Dec. 23. Severe injuries were received by a 12 year old schoolgirl named Gwep Whittleston, who struck a jutting ledge of rock while diving into a swimming pool in King Edward Park. She also came very near to losing her life, as she became dazed by the blow, and sank. Other children who saw the accident became panic-stricken and ran away, while a woman who witnessed the occurrence fainted. Mr J. Fitzgerald, who was passing, dived in and rescued her, but not before she had swallowed a large quantity of water. Other persons who came on the scene assisted in rendering first aid and the girl was taken home. Ho injuries consist of deep gashes on the forehead and face, the displacement of several teeth, a punctured cheek and injuries to the shoulders.
