TASMAN FLIGHT PLANS.
FOUR PASSENGERS TO RE CARRIED. SYDNEY, Dec. 28. Preparations for Sir Charles Ivingsford Smith’s Tasman flight are almost completed. Sir Charles announced to-day that t-lto passengers ■ by tho Southern Cross would he Mr S. E. Nielsen, secretary of tho New Plymouth Aero Club ; Mr J. Percival, a journalist; Mr P. G. Taylor, assistant pilot and navigator; and Mr AY. Stannage, wireless operator. Tho Southern Cross will leave Mascot aerodrome on January 10 at 11 a.m. for Gcrringong beach, 80 miles to the south, where 600 gallons of spirit and 30 gallons of oil will he taken on board. The flight to New Zealand will commence tho samo evening about 4 o’clock at low tide, or when a suitable meteorological report is available. Sir Charles is trying to borrow a small deck watch chronometer from the Navv, which would be most useful on the flight, but the Navy Board has so far been reluctant to lend one.
