WAIMATE TO CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. WAIMATE, Oct. 7. In blazing sun, on one of the hottest days of the season, 131 riders started on the 145 mile cycle race to Christchurch, the six limit men leaving at 8.15 o’clock and the four scratch riders at 9.30. The non-starters are Pluck, Donaldson Ellis, Metcalf, Ling, McNickel, McCaw, Marks and Burgess. The first arrival at Ashburton was Lee at 12.36 p.m. and the first scr ate!'- ~(ti to arrive was H. G. Watson at 1.11 p.m., MMI Crofts and Hill arrived at 1.22 p.m.
