ANNUAL BALL.

RANGITIKEI HUNT CLUB. One of the outstanding social functions of the season, the annual ball of the Rangitikei Hunt Club, which was held in Marton on Friday night, drew patrons from far and near. In recognition of the generosity of it number of Rangitikei farmers and those in surrounding districts, in allowing members of the club to hunt over their properties, the club went to great expense and trouble to return the courtesy. There were present, in addition to a large number of Rangitikei farmers and their families, visitors from Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Taranaki, Wanganui, Hunterville, Bulls, Turakina, Rata, Halcombe, Fordell, Sanson, Okoia, Wairarapa, Wangaehu, Auckland, Woodville, Palmerston North and many from' Marton. The 'hall was decorated in a colour scheme of red, white and blue, and the supper room having streamers in these shades hanging from the ceilings and walls to form an archway over the tables, which were arranged with flowers and greenery. Mingled with this were sprays of goldtinted leaves. On the walls were several hunting scenes. Mrs J. Brice and a willing band of ladies, who were in charge of the supper, carried out the arrangements splendidly. Messrs F. T. McLean (president), J. Brice (master), H. J. Cameron, Francis McLean, E. H. Simpson, P. W. Briant, W. W. Wilson (deputy masters) and D. B. Sladden (secretary), were M.C.’s. The general committee, who assisted during the day in helping, all lent valuable assistance. Several debutantes were presented, these being: Miss Olive Glasgow, who wore white lace tinted with silver and white fur coat, pastel-tinted posy ; Miss Ora Galpin, ivory lace with accordionpleated frilling on corsage and at hem, silver and green spray posy of daphne, violets and freesias, with diamante shoes; Miss Francis Poppe, ivory-dot-ted net, banded with white satin and with frills at the neckline and edged with pink and blue flowers, wrap of ivory ring velvet and posy of pink and white flowers; Miss Betty Lampp, Em-

pire frock of satin brocaded charlaine with ruched bodice and puff sleeves, the skirt being inlet with godets and worn with hand-made silver roses at the neckline; posy of Christmas roses, freesias, dahpne and maidenhair fern.
