Results of Saturday’s basketball games are as follow:—Cheltenham 0 v. High School Tons 4; High School 12 v. High School Kens 1 ; Old Girls won by default from St. John’s. William John Thomas, aged 40, was charged before Messrs A. J. Geary and W. E. Carthow. J.lL’s, this morning, with the theft of a rug from Mr Thomas McDermott’s car in Feilding on the evening of July 24. The police stated that accused, who pleaded guilty, had had 27 previous convictions and that on the day previous to the theft he had been convicted of drunkenness and had been ordered out of the town. Accused was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment.
