FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB.
ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the Feilding Jockey Club announces that the statement of accounts discloses a profit of £474 12s lid on the year’s working. “The year has been a very successful one for the club and, although stakes were increased by £941 10s, the profit over the two meetings, together with the continued rebate of taxation allowed by the Government, has enabled the committee to do a considerable amount of necessary repairs and improvements.
The totalisator house and stewards’ stand have been painted; the oval hub oeen ploughed up and levelled and will be sown m grass during the spring; a very necessary regrading of some 20 chains of the racing track, round the tup bend, has been carried out and a new rail will be erected before the next meeting. This, together with tile and mole draining done last spring, should put the track in first-class condition. Before the Easter meeting improvements to the automatic totalisator were carried out and this enabled the staff to efficiently handle the increased turnover. It is with regret that the committee have to record the death of Air D. Bell, who was a member of the club for many years. The president, vicepresident, lion, treasurer and four committeemen retire in accordance with the rules, the retiring committeemen being Alessrs E. f3urrell, L. T. McLean, N. J. Short and E. A. Twigg. The following nominations have been received: President, Air It. J. Harper; vice-president. Air E. Goodbehere; lion, treasurer, Air IV. J. Shannon ; committee (four vacancies), Alessrs E. H. Brewer, E. Burrell, L. T. AlcLean, E. A. Twigg and N. J. Short. The nominations for the committee exceed the required number by one and consequently a ballot will be taken.”
