FUNERAL.
AIRS JOHN AIATTHEWS. On Tuesday afternoon it was a sad circle of friends who gathered at the late residence of Airs John Alatthews in Grey Street, Feilding, to pay their respects in memory of a lady who, by virtue of her genial and happy disposition, had endeared herself to those who had come in contact with her. The whole of the Alanawatu district was represented in the large gathering which comprised the cortege to the Sandon Cemetery. “Burnam,” Awahuri, the old homestead of Mrs Matthews, was passed en route to the cemetery. The services at the house and at the cemetery were conducted by Rev: A. L. Dixon, of the Presbyterian Church, Feilding, and the pallbearers were Mr John Pagan, and relatives of the deceased—Alessrs Allan, Raymond, John, Thomas and Patrick Alatthews. Numerous messages of sympathy and a wealth of floral tributes were received.
