ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
PALAIERSTON NORTH BRANCH. COAIAIITTEE AIEETING. Those present at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society last evening were Alessrs E. G. Alntthews (chairman), AV. R. Procter (secretary), E. AYlnte, AV. Proc ; ter, E. N. Davis; F Lewis, F. AA’itliers, A. H: Marshall, H. AV. Scott, E. E. Ward, H. Lane, C. Nielsen, AV. AYoodmore .and C. Lane. Apologies for absence were received from Alessrs AA r . H. Hosking and T. Andrews (ranger). Reporting on a recent visit made by himself and several other members of the executive, to the society’s game farm at Paraparaumu, . the secretary stated that six new brood houses had been built fop the coming season, the side of a rocky hill having been excavated with voluntary labour. Tho houses were about 70ft long and ]2ft wide, and had a concrete floor. Two feed store rooms for pheasants had also been built. -AVeeds. had been cleared and oats planted. Air Procter added that lie had seen a large number of redds (spawning beds), there being approximately forty trout in one hole. The work had been done by voluntary labour and the game farm would probablv become one of the finest in New Zealand.
