RUGBY CONTROL

MANAWATU UNION. THREE CHAMPIONS DECIDED. Tlie management committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union met. last evening, Mr K. W. Eglinton presiding in the absence of Mr A. M. Ongley. Also present were Messrs W. Gleeson, H. R. Crawford, H. J. Hickey, L. J. Plank and G. Peters. The secretary reported that in addition to the senior competition the junior and fourth grade had been completed. Old Boys had won the junior and Ivia Toa the fourth grade. It was decided to write to Kia Toa (seniors), Old Boys (junior), and Kia Toa. (thirds) congratulating them on winning their respective. competitions. Mr Gleeson was appointed manager of the senior representative team to play Wairarapa on tSaturday, and Mr Mitchell manager of the third grade representative side to play Oroua. It was decided to write to the Wanganui Union suggesting a junior representative match at Palmerston North as a curtain-raiser to the senior representative match on September 25, while it was agreed to offer Horowhenua a junior representative match towards the end of August.—The Wanganui Union also are to be asked to provide a third grade team for a curtain-raiser at Palmerston North on September 18. The Horowhenua Union are to be asked to suggest a date for the Rowland Cup match between the Manawatu and Horowhenua, junior champions. SATURDAY’S FIXTURES. Fixtures for Saturday were approved as follows;

Seniors.—Manawatu v. Wairarapa, No. 1 Johnston Park, 2.45 p.in-, Mr C. Eglinton. . $ Juniors (subsidiary competition). — Old Boys v. Jackeytown, oval, Showgrounds, 1.15 p.m., Mr Bailey; Kia Toa v. United, No. 2 Showgrounds, 2.45 p.m., Mr B. Trow; St. Patrick’s v. Feiiding Old Boys, Oval, Showgrounds, 2.45 p.m.. Mr C. Woodham, Thirds.—Manawatu v. Oroua, No. 1 Johnston Park, 1.15 p.m., Mr F. ThomasFifths.—Palmerston North High School Bv. Palmerston North High School A, to be arranged; Kia Toa v. Feiiding High School, No. 2 Johnston Park, 2.45 p.m., Mr J. Pinfold. Midgets.—To be arranged.
