A RECIPE.

Six tablespoons self-raising flour and pinch of salt, 3 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons cornflour, \ cup sugar, ] beaten egg, essence to taste. Cream the butter and sugar, then add the beaten egg and essence. Beat well. Rift in flour and sugar and beat a few minutes. Put a small quantity, say, a teaspoon, in very small patty pans or gem irons. Bake in a moderate oven. When cool, put together with apple jelly. Roll in dry icing sugar.
