COUNCIL’S MACE SEIZED.
ATTEMPT TO STOP DEBATE. Received August 6, 9.45 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 5. Under the impression that he would stop the business, Cr Taylor, at a meeting of the Glasgow City Council, during a heated debate adopted the Cromwellian device, seized the mace and hid it in the banqueting hall, but the Lord Provost ruled that business should proceed.
