TOKOMARU.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TOKOAIARU, Sept. 16.

Mrs F. Cydo is spending a holiday with Airs Seymour at Alanakau. Alts D. McKceman is the guest of her mother, Mrs AI. Corlett. Air L. M. Harper, of Waiouru. spent a week’s holiday at his home in Tokomaru. Air and Airs H. Parr, of Bulls, were recent visitors to Tokomaru, staying with Air and Mrs W. 11. Parr. Airs D. Alurdock and Aliss L. Waghorn, of Foxton, have been guests of their .mother. Airs 11. Waghorn. Miss AI. Alorgan, of liactihi, was a recent visitor lo Tokomaru. Mrs R. W. Guy is visiting relations in Napier. Afiss Beverly I.loyd is also staying with her aunt in Napier. Week-end visitors to Tokomaru include Miss B. Sherlock, Aliss M. I’opu (Palmerston North),' Aliss N.- Benge (Foxton), Air and Airs B. Aiorgan (Palmerston North), Air H. Alasori, of. Marion, and Afr J. Anderson, of Palmerston North. Mrs Balnevis, of Wellington, is spending n holiday as the guest of her sister, Airs E. Turner.

The spring service was held at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday, the church being beautifully decorated with flowers by the members. The flowers were afterwards sent to the hospitals to help cheer tho sick. The service was taken by Rev. Air Bush, of Shannon.

The hall presented a bright scene on Saturday night, when a very large audience gathered to hear the Maori concert held in aid of the Patriotic Fund, under the direction of Mr Rangi Nicholson. Mr Nicholson called upon Mr A. Moody, secretary of the Tokomaru Patriotic Committee, to accept, tlie sum of £9 14s 6d. Mr Moody thanked him on behalf of the committee, also all the Maori party entertainers, and everyone who had helped to make tire evening the success it was. A splendid programme was presented, as follows: —Opening chorus, full party; action song, girls’ aitd boys’ troupe; piano accordeon and steel guitar, Mario and Percy Nicholson: poi, girls’ troupe; duet, Misses L. Walker and K. McGregor; haka, Maori boys’ troupe; chorus Hapeta family; action song, girls’ and boys’ troupe; poi, Hapeta family; song, Ruth Nicholson;, haka song, boys’ troupe; piano-accordeon and steel guitar, Marie and Percy Nicholson; action song, girls and boys’ troupe; canoe poi, girls’ troupe; duct, L. Walker and K. McGregor; piano-accordeon and steel guitar, Marie and Percy Nicholson; action song, girls’ and boys’ troupe; sextette, Hapeta Family; haka, boys’ troupe; vocal trio, Nicholson Family; action song, Hapeta Family; dance, Emily Hill; haka, boys’ troupe; double poi, girls’ troupe; orchestral, Nicholson Novelty Band; action song, girls’ and boys’ troupe. After the concert a dance was held, the music being supplied by the Nicholson Novelty Band, and extras were played by Mr J. Hurunui and Mr Bond acted as M.C. Among those present were: Mcsdames R. A’Court, blue linen; Misses R. Free, brown’pleated suit; J. Gorlctt, green coin-spotted silk; O. Wilton, floral linen; B. Sherlock, navy blue skirt., mist blue tunic; I. Hansen, blue floral silk; G. Hills, lemon and brown; P. Gorlctt, peacock blue silk; M. Sherlock, navy; J. Hills, clover wool crepe-de-chinc; M. Atkinson, navy and clover; E. Gorlett, black sheer; N. Benge, mustard; N.
