Tracing Cause of Epidemic of Sickness
POSSIBLY CAME PROM SALAD DRESSING.
At last evening’s meeting of the Board of Managers of the Folding Agricultural High school, Mr. L. J. Wild (principal) reported fully on the recent epidemic of sickness at the school hotel whereby the whole staff and boarders with odd exceptions were rendered indisposed for some time by a form of gastric enteritis. Mr. Wild explained that a very careful investigation had been made and full reports submitted to tho Health Department, whose opinion was that the trouble quite possibly arose from a salad dressing used at tho last meal prior to the commencement of the sickness. At its outbreak all parents were advised and steps were taken to call in assistance. Letters had been received from parents expressing gratitude for all that had been done for their boys. All were r.ow completely recovered and the Health Department was still pursuing its investigation in an effort to trace the source of tho supposed poisoning. On tho motion of the chairman (Mr. J. Knight) the board placed tin record its appreciation of the services of the nurses and volunteer assistants whose services had been of great help, and a further motion recorded the board’s appreciation of the practical measures taken by Mr. Wild to deal with the outbreak.
