From Our Own Correspondent,
Tho monthly meeting of the Bunny--thorpo School Committee was held in the school on Monday evening. All members were present, namely: Messrs. A. A. O’Donnell (chairman), O. Jackson (secretary), A. F. McKenzie, A, D. Heggie and R. C. Powell. Mr. R. H. Abraham, the headmaster, was also present. The headmaster’s report showed tho roll number 91 and the averago attendance 89. Tho visiting eomnutteeman reported the grounds to be in fairly good order, but various other matters required attention. A start was made with tho arrangements for parents’ day and breaking-up day, which this year will be combined. Mr. J. Linkiater, M.P., will bo invited to attend. A canvass of tho district is to bo made, as usual, for the purpose oi obtaining prizes, and parents are asked to assist with the provision of luneii and afternoon tea. A special meeting of the committee will be held on Monday evening next. The committee of the Hiwinui School is also busy with arrangements for the school’s annual picnic, which will bo held on tho breaking-up day, Friday, December 16. A hearty invitation is extended to all parents and friends to bo present. To make a thorough wind-up of the year’s activities, a dance will be held in tho evening. The annual meeting of the Bunnythorpo Sports Club will take place in the hall on Thursday evening next 15th ( inst.
The following team will represent tho Bunnythorpe Tennis Club against AVoodville in the B grade competition match on Saturday afternoon: Misses AV. Robson, E. Robson, M. Godfrey, Mrs. AV. Greig, Messrs. G. Duthio, H. Robson, L. Duthie and AV. Sutherland.
