Somo farmers aro now engaged in haymaking.' For a few days the weather has been most unsettled, therefore against their attempts, but it is hoped that fine days will now set in to assist these operations. At present there is every sign of fair weather. During the week-end, sufficient rain fell on tho flats and mountain,s to swell the Pohangina River considerably. Its unusual height inconvenienced those wishing to ford the river to attend church at Komako on Sunday. Judging by appearances there should bo au excellent crop of small fruit and stone fruit this - season. Pears, too, seem plentiful, but apples and nuts are not promising such favourable harvest. Colds have been prevalent among the school children and others lately, owing to the spell of unsettled weather.
