Makino
Wind-up of Ping Pong Season. A dance and ping- pong tourney that proved most enjoyable took place in the hall on Friday evening to mark the end of the ping pong' season in Makino. In addition to local lovers of the game many were present from outside districts and the entries for the tournament were very large. The first prizes were won by Miss Joan Garlick and Mr. W. Dunn, both of Feilding, and tho second prizes were carried off by Miss Ida Amer and Mr. Less Sanclbrook, of Makino. A handsome silver cup, donated by tho latter (president and captain of the local Ping Pong Club) for annual competition, and to be awarded to the member of the Makino Club who should win most games in matches with outside dubs each season, was won bv Mr. Mervyn Lning. The duties of •U.C. were creditably carried out. by Mr. r.‘ Petersen (secretary). The floor was in' excellent condition for dancing and both old-time and modern dances were indulged in to fine accordeon music played by Messrs G. Fitzpatrick and Austin. The supper room was given up to euchre, which was played by a number of patrons, and tile evening was, from all points of view, a very pleasant and .satisfactory one.
