Miss Joy Sunimcrell, a trainee of the Palmerston North Public Hospital, who has been spending licr annual leave at her homo in Wanganui, resumes duty this week.

The friends of Mrs M, Lynch, of Palmerston North, will bo pleased to learn that her little daughter, ltosaleen, who is an inmate of the hospital, is progressing satisfactorily.

Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral, Lord Blcdisloe, and Lady Blctlisioe, have issued invitations fora reception and investiture at Government House, Wellington, on Wednesday, October IS.

Miss Kerstin Hesselgren, the president of the National Council of Women of Sweden, is widely known as the first woman factory inspector in her own country, anil beyond its 'lron-tiers, as a distinguished representative of the Swedish Government in Geneva.

Early this month the death occurred at Geraldine of Mrs J. D. McKcclmic, who was well known to the early residents of Bedding, Ash hurst and Sanson as Miss Mary Crichton, daughter of the late .Mr George Crichton who, at different periods, was engaged in business in 'Wellington, Fcilding and Ashhurst. .During her early life Mrs McKcclmic was associated with her father in business and later became postmistress at Kimbolton, holding that position for years in the early part of this century, and resigning when about to marry. Besides her husband, Mrs McKcchnie leaves two children, Douglas (2.1) and -Joan (.17) lo mourn their loss.
