From Our Own Correspondent. Owing to counter attractions and the prevalence of influenza in the district, the dance held by the local Cricket Club last Tuesday evening was not the financial success that the committee’s work warranted. Music for dancing was supplied by a • professional orchestra from Palmerston North, and extras were played by Mrs. R. Atkinson and Miss D. Webb. Mr. G. Claridgo made a very capable M.C. Two novelty dances W'ere won by Mr. C. Walden and Miss Vera Voss and Mr. F. Boole and Miss S. Davies, of Linton. Supper was served by members of the club and lady helpers. Among those present were Mesdames. *■ Grady, J. Schwass, E. Patrick, A. Claridge, R. Aakinson, H. Parr (Newbury), N Cunning, A. Todd, Misses M. Schwass, a’ Schwass, S. Davies, A. Anderson, .). Kelly, G. Patrick, R. Young (Opiki), V. Voss, D. Towler, V. Guy, M. Gilmour, J. Boote, D. Davis (Shannon), M. Clapham and others. . . The opening of the local Tennis Club is to be held next Sunday. Members and intending members are all invited to attend.
