Brigadier J. H. Powiek, who has been on a short visit to Dannevirke, returned to Salvation Army headquarter* at Wellington yesterday by car. Mrs. il. Gilbertson, Havelock North, has returned from u holiday in Gisborne. Miss Nancy van Asrh, King street, Hastings, has returned from several weeks’ holiday with relatives in Christ- ! church. j Mrs. R. Puflett, Market street, Hastings, has taken her son, Dick, to Christ’s College, Christchurch, and will spend a holiday thcro with her mother before returning horn*. Misses Helen and Geraldine Miller have arrived from Wellington to spend a few days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Nicholson Miller, for the wedding of their sister, Margaret, to Mr. Edward Zohrab, which takes place today. Mrs. Bank%, and Mrs. Miles and her daughter, who have been staying with Mrs. R. Gigg, Willowpark road, Hastings left for Wellington, to join tho Wanganclla to return to their homes in Sydney. Mrs. J. C. Wickham,jiWanganui East, Dominion vice-president of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union, will accompany Mrs. C. K. Wilson (Dominion president) on an organising tour of tho Hawke's Bay district. Mrs. H. Wright, of Horahora, is on a visit to Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Twader, Hawke's Boy, are visiting Rotorua. Miss A Davies has been appointed headmistress of St. Luke's private school, Havelock Norvu. Mr. and Mrs. J. Cleaver and Mr. And Mrs. Roy Anderson, Brunswick, have returned to Wanganui after an enjoyable two weeks’ tour of the Hawke's ’Bay and East Coast districts. Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Cook, Hastings, were iu Wanganui this week. Miss Betty Garrioch, Dufferiu street, Hastings, left yesterday morning lor Wellington. She will bo the guest of relatives and friends at Plimmertou. Mr K. McLeay, who has left Napier on a live-months business trip abroad, was granted leave of absence for that period by the Napier Chamber of Commerce on Thursday evening. Mr H. Brown, of the staff of the telephone exchange, Napier, has received notice of his transfer to the Wellington Post Office. •. Mr E. L. Cullen, M.P., rettorhed to Hastings from Wellington last night. He expects to leave again for Taranaki on Tuesday. Mr C. G. E. Harker, Waipawa, has returned from a business visit to Wellington. Tho Rev. Cecil Taylor and Sir* Taylor, Te Aroha, arc on a visit to Mr and Mrs Edward Bibby, Waipawa.
