THE BAY OF ISLAND SEAT.

The candidate in the Government interest in the Bay of Islands in the bye-election will be Mr William Stewart, of Kawakawa. Having wide interests as general agent and farmer Mr Stewart is a. prominent figure, in North Auckland district. He is'chairman of the Bay of Islands County Council and chairman of the Bay of Islands Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, having occupied the latter office since the inception of that Board. He wa.s a member of the Royal Commission which reported last year on the Kauri Gum Commission. He has also acted in a number of other public positions. He will open his campaign immediately. It is understood the election is to be held as early as possible.
