Tho above game was commenced on Saturday lash, on Cook's Gardens on a good wicket. Aramoho won the toss and elected to bat, sending i;i Chase and Beckett. When 2 runs were on the board, Beckett was bowled by Luxford. Aramoho's batting on the" whole uas disappointing with the exception of Burrett, jun. (19; and Pepper (11), the rest of the tsam weve hoelessly at sea with the Wanganui attack, Luxford securinr-: 7 wiek'fr. for 16 runs, and C. Holland 3 for 34.

Wanganui's opening at the wicket was_ equally; disastrous, the first wicket falling for 1, and the second for 10. Butterworth then joined Luxford, and the total reached 91, when Lowe eot a good ball past Buttpnvorth. The latter gave an attractive display of batting for< his half century. Batsmen came and went and still Luxford progrossed steadily past the coveted century, until he skied a ball from Lowe io Cohen at extra cover.
