No. 535.—Petition of Wi Katene Paeemata and 4 Others. Petitioners urge their claims to be included in ownership of Whakapuaka Block, and pray that legislation may be introduced to give them a rehearing, and in the meantime that Huria Matenga, the present holder of the title, be prevented from alienating any part of the block. I am directed to report that, as the petitioners have notified that they wish to withdraw the petitions with a view to bringing the matter forward early next session, the Committee has no recommendation to make. Bth October, 1896.
