No. 521.—Petition of Mekehiea Paebau. Petitioner prays for inquiry into ownership of Pukereretu Block, near Feilding, with a view to his being admitted therein. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for consideration. Bth October, 1896.

No. 531.—Petition of Tanioea Bopata and Others. Petitionebs pray for removal of restrictions from Omaunu Block No. 2, to allow them to sell the same to whom they please. No. 535.—Petition of Wi Katene Paeemata and 4 Others. Petitioners urge their claims to be included in ownership of Whakapuaka Block, and pray that legislation may be introduced to give them a rehearing, and in the meantime that Huria Matenga, the present holder of the title, be prevented from alienating any part of the block. I am directed to report that, as the petitioners have notified that they wish to withdraw the petitions with a view to bringing the matter forward early next session, the Committee has no recommendation to make. Bth October, 1896.
