Light The Court found that the vessel foundered B.H.Jones. paroa Peninsula shortly after midnight on the morning of the 26th September, 1936, 2h miles south of Whangaparoa Peninsula ; that the vessel was quite unseaworthy and inadequately manned ; that the ship foundered through the neglect and lack of seamanship of the engineer in charge, B. H. Jones, who, though probably a good engineer, was unsuited to command a vessel. The Court further found that the ship was manned according to law, but considered that the law should be amended so as to ensure that an engineer in charge of a vessel under 6 tons register had a good knowledge of seamanship.
